Wallets Explained — Software & Hardware Wallets in ENLIGHTENMENT

When you open Settings in ENLIGHTENMENT, you’ll see two wallets: a Software Wallet (for gameplay) and a Hardware Wallet (for savings). Both wallets exist on two blockchains — the CC-Chain and the KC-Chain — using the same address on each (only the chain ID differs). This guide explains what they are, how they work, and how to manage them.

The Two Blockchains

ENLIGHTENMENT uses two separate blockchains, both running on Besu (an Ethereum-compatible blockchain client) with zero gas price — transactions are free:

ChainFull NameCoinWhat It’s Used For
CC-ChainCash Coin ChainCC (Cash Coin)Gameplay currency — treasure rewards, color token minting, player transfers
KC-ChainKeshe ChainKC (Keshe Coin)Long-term store of value — backed by gold & shares from Markray Corp. and others

Exchanging CC for KC

CC (Cash Coin) is the gaming currency. You can exchange CC for KC (Keshe Coin) with a 10% reduction that is distributed as follows:

  • 8% goes to the government of the player’s country
  • 1% goes to the Keshe Foundation
  • 1% goes to getplasma.org to operate the worldwide VPN infrastructure

KC (Keshe Coin) is backed by gold and shares from Markray Corp. and other assets, making it a stable long-term store of value.

The Two Wallets

💻
Software Wallet (Gameplay — CC coins)

Your Software Wallet is your gameplay wallet. It is created automatically when you register and holds your CC coins (Cash Coins) for everyday gameplay. The wallet is stored as an encrypted keystore JSON file — a small text file containing your private key, encrypted with your password.

  • Address: Starts with 0x... (e.g. 0x540712...) — same address on both CC-Chain and KC-Chain
  • Stored: Encrypted in the game database and in your browser’s local storage
  • Password: Your game login password is used to encrypt and decrypt it
  • Use: Receiving treasure chest rewards, holding Color Knowledge tokens, sending CC to other players, signing helpdesk tickets — all gameplay transactions on the CC-Chain
🔐
Hardware Wallet (Savings — Trezor or cold storage)

Your Hardware Wallet is your savings wallet for long-term storage. It can be a Trezor hardware device or a cold-storage keystore. This wallet is managed separately from your software wallet and is not needed for gameplay — it’s for keeping your coins safe, including KC (Keshe Coins) which are backed by gold and shares.

  • Address: Starts with 0x... (e.g. 0x3b0b72...) — same address on both CC-Chain and KC-Chain
  • Stored: Encrypted keystore in the game database (for cold-storage setup); with a Trezor, the private key never leaves the device
  • Password: Same password as your software wallet (re-encrypted during login)
  • Use: Long-term savings — transfer CC here from your software wallet for safekeeping, hold KC (Keshe Coins) as a stable store of value, transfer back when you need coins for gameplay

Wallet Status: Locked vs. Unlocked

In Settings, each wallet shows a status:

  • ● Unlocked (green border) — The wallet is decrypted and ready for transactions
  • ● Locked (red border) — The wallet is encrypted and cannot sign transactions

Why Does My Wallet Show as Locked?

When you log in, both wallets are automatically decrypted with your password. However, the wallet can become locked again if:

  1. You navigated to Settings in a new tab — The password is stored in sessionStorage, which is per-tab. Opening Settings in a new tab may not have the password available.
  2. Your session expired — After 6 hours of inactivity, you are automatically logged out.
  3. Browser cleared session data — Some browsers clear sessionStorage when a tab is backgrounded for a long time.

How to Unlock

Simply log in again (or reload the game page in your original tab). The login process decrypts both wallets with your password and they will show as unlocked.

How to Manage Your Wallets

Viewing Your Wallet Addresses

1 Open Settings

Click the ⚙ Settings button in the game UI.

2 Scroll to Wallet Section

You’ll see two input fields: Software Wallet (Gameplay — CC coins) and Hardware Wallet (Savings — Trezor or cold storage), each showing the wallet address and locked/unlocked status.

Downloading Your Keystore

You can download your keystore file at any time from Settings:

  1. Click Download Keystore for the wallet you want to back up
  2. Save the .json file in a safe location (USB drive, encrypted folder, etc.)
  3. Keep your password safe — without it, the keystore cannot be decrypted

Important: Anyone who has your keystore file and your password can access your wallet. Never share either of them with anyone. The Keshe Foundation will never ask for your password or keystore file.

Importing a Keystore

If you need to restore a wallet (e.g. on a new device):

  1. Go to Settings → Import Hardware Wallet Keystore (or Software Wallet Keystore)
  2. Select your saved .json keystore file
  3. Enter your password to decrypt it
  4. The wallet address will appear and the status will change to “Unlocked”

Lost Your Keystore File?

Use the Find Wallet on Disk tool in Settings. It downloads a small script that scans your computer for keystore files. See our Find Wallet on Disk guide for detailed instructions.

Sending Coins

Sending CC (Cash Coins)

  1. Make sure your Software Wallet is unlocked
  2. Enter the recipient’s CC address in the transfer field
  3. Enter the amount
  4. Click Send — the transaction is signed with your wallet and broadcast to the CC-Chain
  5. You’ll see a transaction hash as confirmation

Transferring CC to Your Hardware Wallet (Savings)

  1. Make sure your Software Wallet is unlocked
  2. In Settings, use the Transfer CC to Hardware Wallet function
  3. Enter the amount to move to your savings wallet (or 0 to transfer everything)
  4. Confirm the transfer — CC moves from your gameplay wallet to your hardware/savings wallet

Transferring CC from Hardware Wallet back to Software Wallet

  1. Go to Settings → Hardware Wallet (Trezor) section
  2. Use the Transfer from Hardware function
  3. Enter the amount (or 0 to transfer everything)
  4. If using a Trezor, confirm the transaction on your hardware device
  5. CC moves from your savings wallet back to your gameplay wallet

Good to know: All transactions on the CC-Chain are free (zero gas price). You don’t need any coins to send a transaction.

Trezor Hardware Wallet Support

ENLIGHTENMENT also supports Trezor hardware wallets for secure signing. If you have a Trezor device:

  1. Connect your Trezor to your computer
  2. In the game, use the Trezor login option
  3. Your wallet is derived from the Trezor’s seed — no keystore file needed
  4. Transactions must be approved on the Trezor device itself

This is the most secure way to manage your wallet, as the private key never leaves the Trezor device.

Common Issues

”Software wallet not unlocked” error

This means your software wallet needs to be decrypted. Log in again or reload the page. If the problem persists:

  • Check that you’re in the same browser tab where you logged in
  • Try logging out and back in
  • Use the Find Wallet on Disk tool to locate your keystore, then re-import it

”Hardware wallet locked” in Settings

This is normal if you opened Settings in a new tab or haven’t set up a hardware wallet yet. The hardware wallet is optional — it’s for savings, not gameplay. Go back to your original game tab, or log in again to unlock both wallets.

Can’t open a helpdesk ticket

The helpdesk system requires your software wallet to be unlocked (it signs the ticket with your wallet). If you see an error when creating a ticket:

  1. Make sure you’re logged in
  2. Reload the game page
  3. Try again — the wallet should be unlocked after login

Security Best Practices

  • Never share your password with anyone
  • Back up your keystore file to a safe location (USB drive, encrypted folder)
  • Use a strong password — at least 12 characters with mixed case, numbers, and symbols
  • Keep your browser updated — modern browsers protect local storage data
  • Don’t use public computers to access your wallet — session data may be compromised
