Shop Upgrades: Reviews, Banners, Search & Category Navigation
NEWThe ENLIGHTENMENT marketplace just got four major upgrades. Shop owners can now build their brand with custom banners, buyers can leave star ratings and reviews, everyone can search and filter shops more effectively, and products are organized by category tabs.
⭐ Shop Reviews & Ratings
Trust is the foundation of any marketplace. Starting now, buyers can rate shops 1–5 stars and leave a written review after completing a purchase.
How it works
- Only verified buyers can review. You must have at least one paid order from a shop before you can leave a review. This prevents fake reviews and ensures every rating reflects a real transaction.
- One review per user per shop. If you’ve already reviewed a shop, submitting a new review updates your existing one.
- Reviews appear at the bottom of every shop page, showing the reviewer’s username, the date, the star rating, and an optional comment.
- Average rating and review count are displayed prominently, so you can quickly gauge a shop’s reputation.
The star selector is interactive — hover to preview, click to confirm. You can also add a text comment to share details about your experience.
🖼️ Shop Banner Images
Every shop can now have a custom banner image at the top of its page. This gives shop owners a way to build brand identity and make their shop stand out.

- The banner appears immediately at the top of your shop page
Banners also appear as thumbnails in search results, making your shop more recognizable when buyers are browsing.
🔍 Shop Search & Filter
Finding the right shop is now much easier with the new Search Shops tab.
Search options
- Text search — Search by shop name or description. Results update as you type (minimum 2 characters).
- Type filter — Filter by shop type: Hardware, Food, Services, Digital, Clothing, Art, Fitness, Education, Consulting, or Other.
- Sort options:
- Name — alphabetical
- Top Rated — highest average rating first
- Most Products — shops with the most listings first
- Nearest — closest to your location (uses your home country or browser geolocation)
Search results
Each result card shows:
- Banner thumbnail (if uploaded)
- Shop type icon and color
- Shop name and description
- Average rating with star display
- Product count and currency
Click any result to switch directly to that shop.
📂 Product Category Navigation
When browsing a shop with many products, finding what you want is now faster with category tabs.
How it works
- Category tabs appear above the product grid, derived from the shop’s actual product categories.
- Click a category to instantly filter the grid to only products in that category.
- Click All to reset the view and see every product.
- The active category is highlighted with a purple accent.
This works alongside the existing search bar, currency filter, and sort options — you can combine category filtering with text search and sorting for precise browsing.
🗺️ Map Clustering (Bonus)
In addition to these four features, shop pins on the world map now cluster automatically when zoomed out. If many shops are located in a small area, they merge into a numbered badge showing the count. Click the badge to zoom in and expand the cluster into individual pins.
This ensures the map remains readable even as the number of shops grows into the thousands.
Summary
| Feature | Who benefits |
|---|---|
| Reviews & Ratings | Buyers (trust), Shop owners (reputation) |
| Banner Images | Shop owners (branding), Buyers (visual browsing) |
| Search & Filter | Everyone (discovery) |
