ECO ID Card — Your Cryptographic Identity

As of August 9, 2026, ENLIGHTENMENT introduces the ECO ID Card — a cryptographically signed digital identity certificate, backed by our own Certificate Authority and registered on the CC Chain blockchain.

What Is the ECO ID Card?

A digital identity certificate issued by our ECO CA Signing Service — a hardware-security-module-backed certificate authority. Think of it as a digital passport: it proves who you are, is signed by a trusted authority, and is valid for 10 years.

Cryptographically secure — Your browser generates an ECDSA keypair. The private key never leaves your device.
Ambassador-verified — An Ambassador vouches for your identity by signing your User ID with their Ethereum wallet.
On-chain registered — The certificate hash is recorded on the ECOIDRegistry smart contract on CC Chain.
Privacy-preserving — No personal data on the blockchain. Only the cert hash, expiry date, and ambassador address are recorded.

How to Get Your ECO ID

1 Open the ECO ID Panel

Click the ECO ID button (card icon) in your right sidebar.

2 Generate Key & CSR

Click Request ECO ID, then Generate Key & CSR. Your browser creates an ECDSA P-256 keypair via Web Crypto API. The private key stays in your browser’s IndexedDB.

3 Get Ambassador Vouching

Share your User ID (click to copy) with an Ambassador. They sign it with their Ethereum wallet using personal_sign.

4 Submit

Enter the Ambassador’s wallet address and the signature they gave you. Click Submit & Sign. The game server forwards everything to the ECO CA via mTLS. The CA signs your certificate and registers the hash on CC Chain.

5 Done

Your ECO ID is verified. The panel shows your certificate hash and on-chain transaction hash.

For Ambassadors: Vouching for a Player

Ambassadors see an extra section in the ECO ID panel: “Vouch for a Player”.

Ask the player for their User ID (UUID)
Enter it and click Sign with Wallet
Your browser wallet prompts you to sign
Copy the signature and share it with the player

Important: By signing, you cryptographically vouch for this player. Your wallet address is permanently recorded on CC Chain as the verifying ambassador. Vouch responsibly.

Technical Details

Browser: Web Crypto API generates ECDSA P-256 keypair. Private key in IndexedDB, never transmitted.
Ambassador Signature: Ethereum personal_sign over the player’s User ID (UTF-8).
Game Server: Forwards CSR + signature to ECO CA via mTLS (mutual TLS with client certificates).
ECO CA: HSM-backed certificate authority. Verifies ambassador signature, signs cert, returns PEM + SHA-256 hash.
On-chain: ECOIDRegistry.registerIdentity() on CC Chain (Chain ID 30369, zero gas).

What’s on-chain: User address, cert hash, expiry, ambassador address, verification level.
What’s NOT on-chain: Personal data, private keys, certificates.

FAQ

Can I get a second ECO ID? No. One ECO ID per user. The system prevents duplicate issuance.

What if I lose my private key? Your certificate is still valid on-chain, but you can’t prove ownership. A revocation and re-issuance process will be available in a future update.

Does the Ambassador need to be in my country? No — any active Ambassador can vouch for any player.

Is my personal data on the blockchain? No. Only the certificate hash (a SHA-256 digest), expiry date, and ambassador address are recorded. Your private key never leaves your browser.

How long is the certificate valid? 10 years from the date of issuance.
